The “Land of Sky Blue Water” provides inspiration everyday. Whenever I am taken out of state for a project it is always nice to come home regardless of the 95 degree humidity and road construction. Minnesota lakes provide a calming effect and a time to regroup for inspiration for my next project.
Land of Sky Blue Water
Growing up in Minnesota, many may remember or seen rewinds of the Hamms Beer Commercial – Vintage Black and White with the Bear floating on a log in THE LAND OF SKY BLUE WATERS. This old Hamm’s brewery used to be located in St Paul. The company has since move its offices out west.
Because of this popular sixties commercial, many people thought that Minnesota meant land of sky blue waters. Even though many of us still call it that because of its sky blue waters, Minnesota actually means “water state”and Minneapolis means water city.
The picture that was used on the Hamms beer cases years ago was a wilderness seen. It was taken on Rainy Lake. Which is a huge border lake between Minnesota and Ontario. If you have never been on Rainy Lake to do some walleye fishing it is quite the experience.
